This is a map provided by EWG, the Environmental Working Group, that highlights toxic algae blooms in bodies of water across the United States. The fertilizer phosphate is a contributing factor to toxic algae blooms and Hydralife Solutions provides beneficial phytoplankton to limit the amout of phosphate in lakes.

This article identifies phytoplanktons' ability to consume phosphate and store it, in what is known as luxury uptake. This decreases the amount of available phosphate for toxic algae to utilize and develop from.
